Barnsdall Art Center (BAC) is focused on arts education for the community and providing support and instruction for you to reach your artistic potential. From fine arts to music to crafts, you will find a new and exciting class here.
Please note: As we wait for the City to determine when Barnsdall Park and its facilities can open again safely to the public, we appreciate your continued patience. The Barnsdall Arts Center and studios clean up and preparation for reopening is a huge and complex process. We are eagerly looking forward to being back on the hill in the near future, and will inform you of any updates as soon as possible.

Do you feel uneasy talking about your artwork in a large group?

The way you talk about your artwork, art practice, and/or process can set you apart in a sea of talented artists. Take this class to explore techniques and tools that will prepare you for those crucial moments. Each class session will focus on different ways to formulate and deliver informative presentations and persuasive speeches. Students will also discover best practices for presenting themselves online along with how to approach giving presentations, engaging audiences, and speaking confidently.

Along the way, there will be demonstrations and loosening up exercises to explore materials. Inspiration will be found from drawings created by a variety of artists, both past and present. We will work from photographs.
This course is a refresher for anyone who loves drawing the figure and portraits.
While working from photographs, drawings, and live models, students will examine the elements of drawing the figure through line work-based exercises led by Teaching Artist Siri France.
Live models will be present bi-weekly and prior figure drawing experience is strongly recommended.
As artists sell more artwork, what happens to the work once the sale is finalized? Can a customer print copies and sell them?
In this course ideal for creative entrepreneurs, designers, photographers, illustrators, and artists, these questions and more with be explored by teaching artist and lawyer Derek Yee. Copyrights, Trademarks, Visual Artists Rights Act, and more will be explored.

The rich connections between writing and painting can be found in illuminated manuscripts, field study notebooks, and travel journals that date back centuries.

Led by Teaching Artists Carol Cellucci and Aaron Donovan, this course is designed to encourage students to explore connections between poetry, journal writing, and watercolor painting. This class is a time to explore new ways of working within your own practice.

Instruction will be separated by discipline for the first three weeks and will come together in the final week to reflect with students on how each discipline influenced their work.
Learn the basics of weaving with paper! In this one-day workshop, explore woven design and sequence while you learn the history of weaving. Each student who signs up for this class will be mailed a few pieces of colorful paper that they can use in this class.
Each student enrolled in this workshop will receive a few sheets of colorful paper in the mail!
